The Anointing

Joseph's anointing will take you from the pit to the prison to the palace. Samuel's anointing will turn you into a kingmaker, giving you the ability to throne and dethrone kings on God's behalf. Jeremiah's anointing will give you the boldness to preach to the nations while still being a child. Peter's anointing will have you healing people as your shadow falls upon them. Philip the Evangelist's anointing will help you build coalitions that will expand God's territory on earth. Paul the Apostle's anointing will turn you into a church planter overseeing more than one congregation. I do not have to look too far out into the world for inspiration. The Bible is filled with men that were strong and mighty under the hand of God.

To be anointed is more than crushed olive oil being smeared on one's forehead. To be anointed is more than having hands laid upon you during a prayer circle. To be anointed is more than being given words of empowerment. To be anointed is to be appointed to an office, position, or a responsibility. To be anointed is to keep secrets. To be anointed means that God can trust you with authority. Although having an anointing on one's life comes with burdens. It is better to live your life for God than have all the treasures that this world can offer.

Ups to having an anointing on your life are many. When God has His hand over you everything you set your mind on will become a masterpiece. God will use the gifts He has stirred up inside of you to bring or draw people back to Him. Aligning your heart with God will send you to predictable places to meet unexpected people. God will talk to you through dreams and visions. The dreams and visions may not be the most comforting, but you will receive warnings firsthand.

Downs to having an anointing on your life weighs a ton. Friends will leave you. Family will abandon you. People will not understand the assignment that is on your life. Walking alone will become a daily routine. Knowing that souls have perished will eat on you. A place to call home will be scarce. The only grain of respect may come from strangers.

As far back as I can remember God's hand has always been on my life. Through bumps, bruises, scratches, and scars I was being shaped and molded. My biological father not being around the only one I call father is God. Despite the obstacles and challenges I would still go on to become a class Vice President, honor roll student, an outstanding young man, and a minister of the Jesus Christ. A part of my ministry is to reflect on all of the times God was with me when I needed Him the most. Writing these reflections on pages has been used to minister to my peers and those alike.

  Father God,
I come before you a humble servant. Use me as you see fit. Let a double portion fall upon me. Every gift and talent that you have installed in me shall be used to give you glory, praise, and honor. When the right hour approaches set my feet upon the proper stages and platforms. Continue to reveal yourself to me as I dig deeper into your word. Being in a relationship with you is better than silver and gold. Thank you for being my father. Thank you for being a provider. Thank you for being a teacher. Thank you for your acknowledgement and for your consideration. In Jesus name, Amen.
