Staying in this temporary housing unit has been the best thing that has happened for me. The door has a bell that you press in and out. The fridge is up to date. The cabinets have more space. The bathroom has a neat structure. The white painted walls go with any shade of furniture. The windows are throwbacks to the 1950's and 1960's. Rainy days are my favorite.
Rainy days have taught me to throwaway the old and create the new. Every time it rains it as though I am shedding old habits, opinions, you name it. The rain and I are friends. Rain helps me reflect. Rain helps my nerves stay intact. Rain makes me happy as a newborn baby.
Dancing in the rain may sound foolish to some. But for me it is a dream come true. There is nothing better than walking outside carefree and letting natural water touch every part of your body. It was rain that was used to judge the earth. It was after the rain that a flood formed. After the flood came a rainbow appearing as a sign of a covenant that God would make with Noah.
I walk through patches of mud to do my laundry. Where there comes rain labor follows. The longer and heavier the rain the more abundant your harvest will be. Rest and work are two sides of the same coin as it pertains to me. For as long as I can remember I have been forced to balance my responsibilities and ambitions. But being placed in this temporary housing unit has helped me see myself with clarity.
On the FX series Shogun Yabushige asked Lord Toranaga, "How does it feel to shape the wind to your will? Lord Toranaga replies, "I don't shape the wind; I only study it." Some things that happen to us in life doesn't happen to destroy us, but to teach us important lessons. Life is our teacher. We are students going through different courses. Control is not always in our hands. God is the one who knows our beginning and our ending. That is all there is to it.
May the message of this page stick with you throughout this week. Go after whatever it is that brings you peace and joy. Don't be afraid to be human. Laugh. Cry. Smile. Stare into your reflection. Above all be thankful for each day you are granted.
